Is the US Marine Corps the *original* knowledge organisation?

This question has been going around in my mind for the last few weeks. The USMC is the smallest of the US armed forces but they usually are tasked with the hardest, most complex missions in which they most always prove overwhelmingly successful. Why is this? How do they achieve such outstanding results? I would suggest, and I will attempt to demonstrate, that it is their knowledge and how they apply it that is the basis for their extraordinary results-to-size ratio.
