If you can’t measure it…

A quote attributed to Lord Kelvin is, ‘you can only improve something if you can measure it’. Or conversely, if you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it.
There are obvious implications for KM which has traditionally been very weak in this area.
It’s a problem for many disciplines, e.g. organizational development in HR. There are things everybody recognizes as good things to do, it’s just impossible to quantify how much of a good thing it is or what specifically it adds to the bottom line.
